USTA and Sound Shore partner with Port Chester Schools

Sound Shore was pleased to donate our facility and staff for a collaborative effort with the USTA Eastern and the Port Chester Central School District to offer free tennis instruction to the four elementary schools, middle school and high school.  The program was funded by a USTA grant, with each school scheduled for 4-5 weeks of instruction.  In all, seventy-five enthusiastic young players were introduced to the great game of tennis!

Joey Lovullo to Head New Program

Joey Lovullo (2)

Sound Shore Indoor Tennis LLC is pleased to announce Joey Lovullo as our new Director of Elite Training.  This program is limited to tournament players and tailored to address the goals and needs of each individual.

Joey’s passion and eye for detail have earned him the reputation for being one of the top coaches in the country.  As a junior, Joey was top 5 in the East in every age group (including #1 in the 14’s). He was also # 20 in the country. At age 15, he moved to Florida, attending Harry Hopman’s, Palmer Academy and Rick Macci Tennis Academy, training with players that went on to be the top 50 in the world. While at Macci’s, he transitioned from playing to coaching, sparring with Venus and Serena, Andy Roddick, Vince Spadea and Mary Pierce.

Joey returned to the New York area as the Director of Tennis at Richmond Country Club where he met 13 year old Alex Petrone. After one summer, Joey became his full time coach. Over the next 5 years, Alex attained the #1 ranking in the East, winning 9 tournaments in a row, won 3 ITF titles and was ranked in the top 100. Alex received a full scholarship to University of Michigan where he played #1 singles.  In 2017, Joey once again relocated to the New York area, guiding another young student on his journey to reach his highest goals.

Assisting Joey will be:

Christian Haushammer who was #25 in the nation in 2015 and has wins over top 300 ATP players. He was sparring partner for Kevin Anderson, Ivo Karlovic, Feliciano Lopez, John McEnroe and Pat Cash; and

Drew Halbauer once held an under 200 ITF Junior World ranking before a serious shoulder injury sidelined him. He has since recovered and will be drilling and coaching in our program.
